Frankreich, 1430. Die jugendliche Jeanne d\u2019Arc, zuvor als Retterin Frankreichs mit g\u00f6ttlichen Eingebungen verehrt und zur Anf\u00fchrerin berufen, f\u00e4llt in Ungnade. Nach milit\u00e4rischen Erfolgen gegen die Engl\u00e4nder unterliegt sie mit der k\u00f6niglichen Armee in der Schlacht von Compi\u00e8gne. In der Folge fallen Getreue von ihr ab, Intrigen werden gesponnen. Schlie\u00dflich wird die junge Frau gefangen genommen. Vor einem Kirchengericht wird ihr unerbitterlich der Prozess gemacht und sie wird als Ketzerin zum Tode verurteilt.<\/p>\n

Regisseur Bruno Dumont (TWENTYNINE PALMS, CAMILLE CLAUDEL 1915, KINDKIND) folgt nach JEANNETTE \u2013 DIE KINDHEIT DER JEANNE D\u2019ARC, seiner Musical-Vitalkur f\u00fcr die heilige Jungfrau von Orl\u00e8ans, f\u00fcr diese Passionsgeschichte dem 1897 erschienen Drama von Charles P\u00e9guy. Den Originaltext singt die franz\u00f6sische Chanson-Legende Christophe ein, mit verbl\u00fcffendem Ergebnis. In seiner von den Mitteln des epischen Theaters durchdrungenen Reflexion \u00fcber unverdorbenen Idealismus und das Machtgef\u00fcge der Alten ergeben sich \u00fcberraschende Perspektiven auf unsere politische Gegenwart.<\/p>\n
