In Portugal, einem europ\u00e4ischen Staat in der Krise, beabsichtigt ein Regisseur, fiktive, von der Misere seines Landes inspirierte Geschichten zu schreiben. Unf\u00e4hig einen Sinn in seiner Arbeit zu finden, fl\u00fcchtet er jedoch feige und \u00fcberl\u00e4sst seinen Platz der bezaubernden Scheherazade. Sie braucht viel Mut und Esprit, um den K\u00f6nig nicht mit den bedr\u00fcckenden Geschichten dieses Landes zu langweilen! Im Laufe der N\u00e4chte l\u00f6st die Verzweiflung die Angst, und die Entz\u00fcckung die Verzweiflung ab. Sie teilt ihre Geschichten in drei Kapitel auf und beginnt folgendermassen: \u201eMan behauptet, oh gl\u00fcckseliger K\u00f6nig, dass in einem traurigen Land unter allen L\u00e4ndern\u2026.\u201c \u00a0 Der Verzweifelte Scheherazade erz\u00e4hlt, wie die Verzweiflung die Menschen heimsucht: \u201eOh gl\u00fcckseliger K\u00f6nig, man behauptet, dass eine traurige Richterin zu weinen beginnt, anstelle das Verdikt zu sprechen, wenn die Nacht der drei Mondscheine hereinbricht. Ein M\u00f6rder auf der Flucht irrt mehr als vierzig Tage durchs Hinterland, tr\u00e4umt von Huren und Rebh\u00fchnern und versteckt sich, um der Polizei zu entkommen. Sich an einen tausendj\u00e4hrigen Olivenbaum erinnernd, erz\u00e4hlt eine verletzte Kuh traurige Geschichten. Die Bewohner eines Hochhauses in einem Vorort retten Papageien und urinieren in die Aufz\u00fcge, umgeben von Toten und Geistern, aber auch von einem Hund der\u2026\u201c. Und als der neue Tag sich ank\u00fcndigt, schweigt Scheherazade. \u00a0 \u201eWas f\u00fcr Geschichten! Wenn das so weiter geht, besteht kein Zweifel, dass meine Tochter gek\u00f6pft wird!\u201c, denkt der Grosswesir, Vater von Scheherazade, in seinem Palast in Bagdad.<\/p>\n
